New Delhi Result 2025 Live: Kejriwal Loses To BJP's Parvesh Verma By 2000 Votes
In a major setback for AAP, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal conceded defeat in the New Delhi constituency after briefly leading against his BJP rival, Parvesh Verma, as per the Election Commission website. By the end of the eighth round of counting, Kejriwal had secured 18,097 votes, while Verma was ahead with 19,267 votes. Meanwhile, trends indicated that the BJP was leading in 45 out of Delhi's 70 assembly seats.

BJP candidate from Karol Bagh, Dushyant Gautam, offered prayers at Jhandewalan Temple in the national capital. Gautam, who is contesting against AAP's Vishesh Ravi and Congress' Rahul Dhanak, expressed confidence in a BJP victory.
"Delhi has decided to bring a double-engine government. The people deserve better governance, free from corruption and lies. Today, the capital will witness a change," Gautam told ANI.
Congress' Sandeep Dikshit also shared his thoughts ahead of the vote count, expressing optimism about his chances.
Previous Election Results in New Delhi
2013: Arvind Kejriwal defeated Sheila Dikshit by over 25,000 votes.
2015: Kejriwal secured a second term, defeating BJP's Nupur Sharma by over 31,000 votes.
2020: Kejriwal won again, beating BJP's Sunil Yadav by over 21,000 votes.
Sheila Dikshit's Hat-Trick
The late Sheila Dikshit held the New Delhi seat for three consecutive terms in 1998, 2003, and 2008 before Kejriwal ended her winning streak in 2013.
Exit Polls Predict BJP Surge
Most exit polls indicate a landslide victory for the BJP, suggesting a potential change of leadership in the national capital.
Verma's Bold Prediction
BJP's Parvesh Verma exuded confidence, claiming that his party would win by a significant margin, and Kejriwal would finish third.
"We will win by over 20,000 votes, maybe even 25,000-26,000. Kejriwal will lose his deposit," Verma asserted.
"On February 8, the lotus will bloom," he added.
AAP Eyes Third Term
Despite BJP's aggressive push, the ruling AAP remains hopeful of securing a third consecutive term. With both sides leaving no stone unturned, all eyes are now on the final results.
