The department is conducting further investigations into this smuggling attempt.

In another case on the same day, a female traveler was caught with 26 iPhone 16 Pro Max smartphones concealed in her vanity bag. She was traveling from Hong Kong to Delhi. The phones, wrapped in tissue paper inside her bag, were discovered upon her arrival at IGI Airport.

"Based on intelligence, Delhi Airport Customs intercepted a lady passenger traveling from Hongkong to Delhi carrying 26 iPhone 16 Pro Max concealed inside her vanity bag (wrapped in tissue paper)," officials stated.

This arrest was the result of specific intelligence received by the Customs Department, leading to the apprehension of the woman for smuggling.

Moreover, on a separate occasion, customs officials intercepted a passenger coming from Dammam to Delhi. Inside the battery compartment of his mobile phone, two gold bars were ingeniously hidden.

The gold bars, weighing about 200 grams in total, were recovered thanks to intelligence tips. This incident underscores the diverse methods employed by individuals attempting to bypass customs regulations.

Earlier, on September 28, a significant gold seizure occurred when customs officials apprehended seven Uzbek passengers, including a juvenile.

They were traveling from Almaty and were found carrying 2,739 grams of gold, estimated to be worth Rs 1.80 crore. Six of the passengers were arrested under the Customs Act, 1962, and the juvenile was detained under the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.
