Heavy rains in Gurugram caused major disruptions this week, including long traffic jams and severe waterlogging. On Monday (September 1), commuters were stuck in a 20-km-long traffic snarl as continuous rainfall submerged key routes across the city.

The downpour also triggered a shortage of Ola, Uber, and Rapido cabs. On Tuesday, a group of corporate employees, unable to book cabs due to high fares and unavailability, resorted to hiring a Porter truck to return home. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing employees squeezed into the truck as an alternative mode of transport.

Public reactions to the video have been mixed. Many praised the employees for their creativity in finding a solution, while others criticised the Haryana government and Gurugram administration for failing to address recurring waterlogging problems. Comments ranged from calling Gurugram a "smart city on paper, sinking city in reality" to highlighting how taxpayers still suffer due to poor infrastructure.

Some also viewed the incident humorously. One person shared that their plumber, stranded due to the cab crisis, also had to take a Porter ride arranged by a contractor. Another noted that tractors could become the "winners" in such situations, being cheap, durable, and able to carry dozens of people through flooded and muddy conditions.
