Over 40 Delhi Schools, Including DPS RK Puram, Receive Bomb Threats: What You Need To Know

Over 40 schools across Delhi, including DPS RK Puram and GD Goenka Public School in Paschim Vihar, received bomb threats via email late Sunday night. According to Delhi Police, the threats were emailed to school authorities around 11:30 PM. In response to the threats, school administrations swiftly sent students home for safety.

Threats Lead to Immediate Action

The threat emails prompted immediate action from school officials and local authorities. The Delhi Fire Department received the alert at 7:00 AM on Monday. While investigations are underway at the affected schools, no suspicious items have been found so far. Delhi Police have been notified, and all safety protocols are being followed to ensure the security of the students and staff.

This latest bomb threat comes more than a month after similar incidents involving CRPF schools across the country, including two in Delhi and one in Hyderabad. On October 21, several CRPF schools nationwide received bomb threats, which were later found to be hoaxes.

History of Hoax Threats

The bomb threat emails appear to be part of a growing trend of hoax threats targeting various institutions. In October, a powerful blast occurred at a CRPF school in Delhi's Rohini area, damaging nearby structures but resulting in no injuries. A pro-Khalistani group later claimed responsibility for the attack on social media.

Additionally, bomb threats have been reported across multiple sectors, including Indian airlines, hotels, and train stations. These threats have turned out to be false, but the frequency of such hoaxes has raised concerns.

Increase in Hoax Threats

The number of hoax threats in India has surged dramatically. According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the number of bomb threat calls to airlines has skyrocketed from 122 in 2023 to 994 in 2024, marking a significant 714.7% increase. October 2024 alone saw 666 bomb threat calls, the highest of the year. This worrying trend highlights the growing need for better detection and prevention measures to combat these false alarms.

The Delhi Police and local authorities continue to investigate these incidents, with the safety of students and public at the forefront of their efforts.
