BJP’s Game of Thrones Begins: Who Will Claim Delhi CM Chair? Top Contenders Here

With the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) set to form the government in Delhi after two decades, the battle for the Chief Minister's post has begun. As the saffron party secures a comfortable lead in the Assembly elections, speculations are rife over who will sit on the coveted CM throne.

Top Contenders in the Race

Delhi CM Candidate Bjp

Several BJP leaders have emerged as potential candidates for the post. Here's a look at the front-runners:

Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma

Former MP Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma emerged as a key figure for the BJP after defeating AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency. Son of former Delhi CM Sahib Singh Verma, he has earned the title of a "giant killer" by breaching Kejriwal's stronghold and securing a crucial victory for the BJP.

Vijender Gupta

A senior BJP leader, Vijender Gupta has held the Rohini seat firmly, winning in both 2015 and 2020 despite AAP's strong presence in Delhi. Having served as the Delhi BJP chief and as the Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Gupta's experience and resilience make him a key contender in the party's leadership discussions.

Majinder Singh Sirsa

BJP's candidate from Rajouri Garden, Majinder Singh Sirsa, secured a significant victory over AAP's Dhanwati Chandela in the 2025 Delhi Assembly election. With the BJP now setting its sights on Punjab after taking control of Delhi, Sirsa is being considered a strong contender for the Chief Minister's post.

Dushyant Gautam

BJP's national general secretary and prominent Dalit leader, Dushyant Gautam, is also among the frontrunners for the Chief Minister's post. Contesting from the Karol Bagh seat against AAP's Vishesh Ravi, Gautam enjoys strong grassroots support in Delhi and is seen as a key figure in the party's leadership calculus.

Harish Khurana

Harish Khurana, BJP's candidate from the Moti Nagar constituency, contested against AAP's Shivcharan Goel. Making his electoral debut, he carries the legacy of his father, Madan Lal Khurana, who served as Delhi's third Chief Minister from 1993 to 1996.

A secretary of the BJP's Delhi unit, Khurana has held multiple organizational roles, including convenor of the public relations cell and spokesperson for Delhi BJP. His political experience within the party structure makes him a notable name in BJP's leadership circles.

Rekha Gupta

If the BJP opts for a woman CM, Rekha Gupta, leading in Shalimar Bagh by a huge 14,831 votes, could emerge as a surprise pick.

Shikha Roy

Another strong female face, leading in Greater Kailash by 4,049 votes, defeating AAP Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj.

BJP's Delhi Comeback After 27 Years

The BJP last ruled Delhi in 1998, under the leadership of Sahib Singh Verma and Madan Lal Khurana. Since then, the party has struggled to reclaim the city, with Congress and AAP dominating the political landscape. However, this time, the exit polls predicted a massive win for the saffron party, and the results seem to be proving them right.

Who Will Wear the Crown?

With a comfortable majority, BJP's central leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, will have the final say in selecting Delhi's next Chief Minister. Will it be a fresh face, a seasoned politician, or a strategic move to balance caste and community dynamics? The answer will shape Delhi's political landscape for the next five years.

The wait for Delhi's new CM has begun! Who do you think will claim the throne?
