According to TV reports, Gadkari, who has met Advani several times in past few days, assured party leaders that the veteran leader would attend the meeting. Earlier BJP President Rajnath Singh had failed to convince Advani who did not change his reservation on Narendra Modi as BJP's PM candidate.
The meeting was expected to be conducted at 5 pm. However, no movement was seen outside Advani's residence till 4:55 pm.
Gadkari assured BJP leaders that Advani would attend the meeting
Advani and another party leader Sushma Swaraj earlier had claimed that BJP should not declare its PM candidate till the assembly elections which are due in five states -- Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, and Mizoram.
Despite Advani's opposition on the announcement on Modi, it seems that the party would go after its Plan B. Singh is now hoping that no new problem of dissent comes up at the crucial parliamentary board meeting of the party. Sources said Rajnath is trying to avoid a voting on the prime ministerial candidate at all cost.
