Atishi Files Nomination For Kalkaji After Roadshow Delay

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and current Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has officially filed her nomination papers for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Initially scheduled to submit her papers on Monday, Atishi's plans were delayed due to a roadshow, causing her to miss the 3 pm deadline set by the Election Commission for filing nominations. However, she proceeded with the process on Tuesday.

Roadshow Delays Atishi's Nomination Filing

Atishi, accompanied by senior party leader Manish Sisodia, had conducted a roadshow in the Kalkaji Assembly constituency after paying homage at Gurdwara Shri Guru Gobind Sahib in Giri Nagar. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to reach the district election officer's office in time. Nominations for the Delhi Assembly elections can be filed until 3 pm each day, and Atishi was unable to meet this time constraint on Monday.

Later that afternoon, Atishi joined Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other AAP leaders at the Election Commission office to address another matter - the transfer of party leader Awadh Ojha's name from Greater Noida's voter rolls to Delhi. This was necessary for him to file his nomination for the Patparganj constituency. After the commission approved the transfer, Kejriwal shared the good news, stating, "Awadh Ojha's vote will be shifted, and the commission has issued the order, enabling him to file his nomination."

Despite the delay in her own nomination filing, Atishi remained focused on her campaign. The AAP had initially announced a rally in Kalkaji, which would be led by Atishi and Sisodia before her nomination filing. Before the rally, Atishi offered prayers at the Kalkaji Temple dedicated to Ma Kali, seeking blessings for her election campaign. She shared her belief that Ma Kali's blessings would guide her and the people of Kalkaji.

Speaking to reporters, Atishi emphasized her dedication to the people of Kalkaji, calling them her family. "I have worked tirelessly in my constituency for the last five years. The people of Kalkaji are my family, they see me as their daughter and sister. I am not just a representative... I am a part of their lives," she said.

The Delhi Assembly elections are set to take place on February 5, with results to be declared on February 8. Atishi, who has represented the Kalkaji constituency for years, is aiming to secure another term and continue her work for the people of her region.
