Arvind Kejriwal writes to Narendra Modi, accuses Centre of running Delhi govt

New Delhi, May 20: Even as Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Lt Governor Najeeb Jung continue their battle over Delhi administration, Kejriwal has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue.

Kejriwal wrote to Modi over the issue of transfer of bureaucrats and accused Najeeb Jung of interfering in the functioning of Delhi government.

Kejriwal also wrote that the Centre was trying to run the government through Lt Governor and urged the government to refrain from doing so. He said that 'Delhi government should be allowed to work independently as per the Constitution.'

Jung, on the other hand, said that he had the power to appoint and transfer bureaucrats and that none of the actions taken by him were 'unconstitutional.'

Meanwhile, Congress said that Kejriwal should stop his 'dharna mindset.' "Delhi is a Union Territory and CM should know that he doesn't have all the powers," said Congress leader Ajay Maken.

This comes a day after both Kejriwal and Jung met President Pranab Mukherjee separately over the issue.
