AAP moves Delhi HC against formation of Police Complaint Authority

New Delhi, Aug 1: AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha approached Delhi HC challenging formation of Police Complaint Authority by Lieutenant Governor without consulting representatives of Delhi Government. The High Court to hear the petition likely on Friday.

The Police Complaint Authority is formed to look into complaints against the Police.authority will deal with complaints of custodial rape, custodial death, extortion or any serious abuse of authority.

The notification for the creation of the PCA, in pursuance of the directions of the Supreme Court, was issued by the Lieutenant-Governor on January 29.

The Delhi government has approved setting up of a separate police complaints authority to inquire into complaints against policemen, as directed by the Supreme Court in 2006.
