AAP Declares Solo Run In Delhi Assembly Elections, Blasts Congress Overconfidence
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced its decision to contest the upcoming Delhi assembly elections independently, targeting the Congress party's overconfidence and the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) arrogance.
AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar made the announcement on Wednesday, following Congress's unexpected defeat in the Haryana elections, where they faced significant setbacks.

AAP's Strong Stance
Kakkar criticized Congress for failing to take its alliance partners seriously, citing the party's poor performance in Haryana as a direct consequence of its overconfidence. "In Delhi, AAP will contest alone. We are capable of fighting the overconfident Congress and arrogant BJP alone," she stated emphatically.
Past Collaborations and Current Sentiments
She pointed out that Congress has not won a single seat in the Delhi assembly for the past decade. Despite this, AAP extended support by giving Congress three seats during the Lok Sabha polls. However, Kakkar lamented that Congress did not value this partnership and chose not to include its allies in their Haryana strategy.
"The Congress thwarted all efforts by the INDIA bloc to forge an alliance in Haryana and didn't feel it necessary to take its ally along with them," she said. This criticism highlights the perceived disconnect between Congress and its allies within the INDIA bloc, particularly in light of AAP's collaboration with Congress in the recent Lok Sabha elections, where Congress managed to secure five out of ten seats in Haryana.
Aftermath of the Haryana Elections
The comments come after the BJP's decisive victory in the Haryana assembly elections, where it secured its third consecutive term with 48 seats, while Congress managed to win only 37 seats. The AAP, contesting solo, failed to secure any representation in the assembly.
Despite a similar vote share with the BJP, Congress's performance was adversely affected by a more competitive electoral landscape. An analysis revealed that Congress lost 17 seats to other parties acting as spoilers, including independents and candidates from the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD).
Conclusion
As the political landscape in Delhi heats up, AAP's decision to go solo reflects its strategic shift in response to the changing dynamics within opposition parties. The party aims to assert its independence while challenging both Congress and BJP as they gear up for the upcoming elections.
