Will Show What A Wounded Tiger Can Do: Uddhav Thackeray On Contesting BMC Elections Solo

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has dropped a hint that his party is likely to independently contest the upcoming local bodies elections (BMC) in Maharashtra. He said that his party members are eager for this move, and he will make a decision when the time is right. Thackeray also criticised Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his comments on the Maha Vikas Aghadi's (MVA) loss in last year's assembly elections.

During an event marking the 99th birth anniversary of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray, Uddhav addressed party workers. He stated that he has been in discussions with party members across various municipal corporations, and they are keen to contest the elections independently. "Are you ready to show the traitors their place? Elections are yet to be announced. Let me see your preparations and I will take a decision as per your wish. I will decide at appropriate time," he said.

Shiv Sena's Independent Stance
Thackeray's remarks come shortly after Sanjay Raut, another party leader, declared that Shiv Sena (UBT) would contest the local bodies polls alone. This announcement has raised questions about the unity within the opposition bloc. The local bodies elections are expected to take place early this year.

Thackeray challenged the BJP to conduct at least one election using ballot papers. He warned against underestimating his party and expressed confidence in teaching a lesson to those who betray them. "I conducted this event to see how many people are with me. As long as you are Shiv Sainiks, I will be your party president," he added.

Criticism of BJP's Hindutva
The former chief minister also addressed Amit Shah's recent comments regarding the Mahayuti alliance's success in state assembly elections. Thackeray asserted that if BJP deceives Maharashtra under Hindutva's guise, his party won't stand for it. He labelled BJP's version of Hindutva as "fake" and highlighted Shiv Sena (UBT)'s commitment to progressive and nationalistic Hindutva.

He pointed out that despite holding the Ram temple 'pran pratishtha' ceremony a year ago, its construction remains incomplete. Thackeray emphasised that nobody should attempt to interfere with his party or its ideology.

Shiv Sena (UBT) is part of the opposition MVA coalition alongside Congress and NCP (SP). Thackeray reiterated his dedication to Balasaheb Thackeray's ideology and assured supporters of his leadership as long as they remain loyal Shiv Sainiks.
