Who Is Mihir Shah, Absconding Main Accused In Mumbai Hit-And-Run Case?

A tragic hit-and-run case took place in Mumbai today, where a BMW dashed into a two-wheeler and killed a woman, while grievously injuring her husband.

As per reports, the person behind the wheels is said to be Mihir Shah, son of a prominent Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leader.

Who is Mihir Shah?

23-year-old Mihir Shah is the son of Rajesh Shah, a politician from the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction). He was allegedly behind the wheels of the luxury car when it lost control and hit a two-wheeler on Annie Besant Road, resulting in the death of Kaveri Nakhwa and injuries to her husband, Pradeep Nakhwa. The accident occurred at around 5:30 am.

Mihir was accompanied by Rajrishi Bidawar when the mishap took place. Preliminary investigations suggest Mihir Shah was driving at the time, but he is currently missing and is being sought by the police.

Both Mihir and Rajrishi were reportedly returning home from a long drive at Marine Drive. The police are investigating whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol and are planning to conduct medical tests and collect blood samples.

Based on Nakhwa's statement, a case has been registered under various sections of the BNS and the Motor Vehicle Act, including Sections 105, 281, 125(b), 238, 324(4), 184, 134(a), 134(b), and 187. These include sections related to causing death by negligence, rash driving, and failure to report the incident.

The BMW involved in the accident has been seized and is at the Worli police station as part of the investigation.

Rajrishi Rajendra Singh Bidawat has been detained for further questioning, and Rajesh Shah, Mihir's father, is also being questioned by the police.
