What Led To 600 Vehicles Being Towed In Wadala’s Dosti Acres?

In the Dosti Acres area of Antop Hill, Wadala, illegal parking had been causing significant traffic issues. The stretch from Sheikh Misri Shah Dargah Chowk to Acharya Atre Nagar Monorail Station had become particularly congested due to vehicles improperly parked on the roads, along with encroachments by two-wheelers and hawkers, according to a Lokmat report. This situation created major traffic jams, making it difficult for both vehicles and pedestrians to move freely.

To resolve the issue, the Municipal Corporation and the Transport Department launched a joint campaign to clear the area. As part of the operation, approximately 600 vehicles were towed away, and more than 150 individuals-owners of two-wheelers and four-wheelers-were fined for parking illegally. In addition, traffic police seized vehicles where the owners were not present to claim them. Nitin Shukla, Assistant Commissioner of the Municipality's F-North Division, confirmed these actions and emphasised their importance in restoring order to the area.

The results of this campaign have been immediately noticeable. Traffic in the Dosti Acres area has become smoother, and the roads are less congested. This has not only eased the flow of vehicles but also made it much easier for pedestrians to walk on the footpaths, which were previously obstructed by parked vehicles and hawkers.

Authorities have urged residents and vehicle owners to follow parking rules to avoid further issues. This action reflects a continued effort to maintain a safer and more organised environment in Wadala and other congested parts of the city. The operation has been well-received by locals, who now benefit from a more accessible and less crowded area.
