Watch | Mumbai Viral Video: Illegal Horse-Carriage Race On Eastern Express Highway Leaves Public In Shock

A shocking and unauthorised horse-carriage race captured on video, as it unfolded on the Eastern Express Highway in Mumbai, has sparked a wave of concern over both public safety and the welfare of the animals involved. The footage, which quickly spread across social media platforms, depicts several horse-drawn carriages racing at breakneck speeds, accompanied by a group of motorcyclists who filmed the event and cheered on the racers.

Following the event's exposure through a widely viewed video titled 'Mumbai Police soti rahi, horse riding hoti rahi' on the social media platform X, formerly known as Tweeter, there has been a public outcry for action. The video has amassed thousands of views, with many people calling for immediate police intervention to hold those responsible accountable. The disturbing scene took place between Ghatkopar and Mulund, gaining rapid attention online and leading to a formal police investigation.

Authorities, having been alerted to the illegal activity, lodged an FIR at the Pant Nagar police station in Ghatkopar. The charges include cruelty to animals, putting individual safety at risk, and negligence, all falling under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. It was discovered during the initial investigation that this race was held without any official authorisation. The organizers and participants reportedly convened at the Fatima Christian Community Hall in Ghatkopar West to coordinate their plans for the illicit event.

Despite the severity of the allegations and the clear evidence of wrongdoing, no arrests have been reported so far. However, officials have committed to conducting a comprehensive investigation into the matter. This commitment comes as the community and online observers demand justice for the blatant disregard for both animal welfare and public safety demonstrated by those involved in the unauthorised race.
