Watch | Man Performs Risky Stunt On Mumbai Local Train, Viral Video Prompts Authorities To Take Action

In the viral video, an unidentified man is seen grabbing onto a moving suburban train but not boarding it fully. His legs remain on the platform, dragging as the train accelerates. He only manages to pull himself inside the compartment at the end of the platform.

This dangerous stunt while boarding a moving local train at Sewri station in Mumbai has raised concern and prompted a swift response from Central Railway (CR). The incident occurred on the Harbour Line network and was widely shared on social media, prompting CR to direct the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to take action.

Authorities Take Action

CR has issued a stern warning against such risky behaviours as it can also harm other passengers as well. The Government Railway Police (GRP) and RPF have initiated a search for the youth involved and are expected to make an arrest soon.

"The safety of passengers is paramount for Indian Railways, and we will continue to take all necessary measures to ensure a secure travel environment," stated CR in a release.

The CR has further urged the public to refrain from attempting stunts on trains or platforms in a post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter. They have encouraged citizens and passengers to report any such activities by contacting 9004410735 immediately.

"The video of this person has gone viral and it is uncalled for. We appeal to citizens not to perform such stunts on trains as it could be fatal," stated CR chief spokesperson Swapnil Nila.

"There have been similar cases of youngsters performing stunts in the past in which a few have died and the family then blames the railways," an official remarked. Such incidents highlight the severe risks associated with these dangerous acts.

Preventive Measures By Central Railway

The CR has been proactive in conducting sensitisation camps in certain slum areas where previous 'stuntmen' were apprehended. These camps aim to educate youngsters and others about the dangers of performing stunts on trains.

The railway authorities continue to appeal to citizens, especially young people, to refrain from engaging in such perilous activities. The emphasis remains on safety and preventing any potential fatalities or injuries resulting from these stunts.

Efforts are ongoing to raise awareness and discourage such behaviour through various initiatives and community outreach programmes. The CR's commitment to ensuring passenger safety remains steadfast as they address this issue head-on.
