Vijay Shivtare: A Strong Challenger For Pawars In Maharashtra Politics

In Maharashtra, political dynamics have shifted significantly since 2019. The Shiv Sena-BJP alliance and the Congress-NCP coalition were the two dominant forces. Among these, Shiv Sena frequently clashed with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), especially in West Maharashtra. Pune district, a stronghold for Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar, and Supriya Sule, witnessed intense political battles.

Vijay Shivtare, a prominent figure from Purandar Haveli, directly challenged the Pawar family. He targeted their financial dealings, sugar factories, educational institutions, and industries. This confrontation intensified the conflict between Shivtare and the Pawars in Pune district. Ajit Pawar had strategised to unseat Shivtare.

Political Shifts and Alliances

In 2014, during Devendra Fadnavis's tenure as Chief Minister, Shivtare was appointed to oversee water conservation. However, in 2019, the NCP managed to defeat him decisively. This loss left a lasting impression on Shivtare. By 2022, Eknath Shinde's rebellion against Uddhav Thackeray altered Maharashtra's political landscape.

Eknath Shinde became Maharashtra's Chief Minister with BJP support after forming his own faction of Shiv Sena. Vijay Shivtare aligned himself with Shinde's group. In 2023, another twist occurred when Ajit Pawar joined the government alongside Sharad Pawar's NCP.

Electoral Challenges and New Equations

The 2024 Lok Sabha elections saw Supriya Sule facing Sunetra Pawar in Baramati constituency. Vijay Shivtare seized this opportunity to contest there as well. His decision caused turmoil within both Mahayuti and Mahavikas Aghadi alliances. Despite mediation by Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis, Sunetra Pawar was defeated.

Regardless of his position or health issues, Vijay Shivtare has been dedicated to Purandar Assembly Constituency's development. He initiated numerous government orders for local progress and successfully advocated for an independent town council for Fursungi Urli Deva.

Development Initiatives in Purandar

Shivtare secured approval for a new water scheme worth ₹143 crores and development projects valued at ₹8 crores for Saswad city. Similarly, he facilitated a ₹78 crore water scheme and ₹5.5 crore development works for Jejuri city.

He also attempted to exclude 2400 acres of Mavadi land from MIDC jurisdiction and pushed for Gunjwani canal expansion according to its original plan. Pune city's growth owes much to his efforts on the Fursungi water scheme.

A Leader Without Official Power

Despite not holding any ministerial or legislative positions currently, Shivtare has continued approving various schemes through persistent follow-ups with the government. His tagline "Not a minister... but strong work" highlights his dedication as Purandar's true shilledar.

Known as an outspoken leader who tackles challenges head-on while prioritising development goals within Purandar area; he has established himself as both articulate public representative offering insightful interviews questioning Pawar’s political career choices too.

Eknath Shinde nominated Vijaybapu Shivtare from Purandar Haveli Assembly constituency for upcoming 2024 elections where he will face Congress MLA Sanjay Jagtap amidst changing alliances turning old foes into friends while former allies join opposition ranks instead now relying upon personal achievements alongside newfound friendships Mahayuti workers remain hopeful about recovering past losses here once again under these circumstances today!
