Ulwe Coastal Road 60% Complete: Major Link Between Atal Setu And Navi Mumbai International Airport Nears Finis

Good news for Navi Mumbaikars - the Ulwe Coastal Road project, a key infrastructure link between the Atal Setu (Mumbai Trans Harbour Link) and the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), has achieved around 60 per cent completion. According to the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), the project is progressing steadily and is on track to significantly enhance regional connectivity within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

The six-lane, seven-kilometre corridor comprises a 5.80 km stretch of coastal road and a 0.90 km access road connecting directly to the airport. This strategic link will provide a seamless route between the harbour bridge and the NMIA, improving travel efficiency and reducing commute times for passengers and goods.

Engineered with a focus on durability and performance, the project incorporates advanced construction techniques such as prefabricated vertical drains, stone column reinforcement, and rock fill sourced from the airport site to ensure long-term structural stability.

Beyond its engineering excellence, the Ulwe Coastal Road also emphasizes safety and sustainability. It will include modern features like energy-efficient LED lighting, smart traffic management systems, and anti-crash barriers - all reflecting a contemporary approach to urban road design.

While the milestone of 60 per cent completion is a significant achievement, the city's residents, commuters, and businesses are eagerly awaiting the project's full commissioning.
