Tesla Sets Foot In Mumbai: Showroom Opening In 2025; All You Need To Know

According to a Times Now report, Tesla has signed a lease to open its first showroom in Mumbai, marking a major step in the company's expansion in India. Tesla has leased a 4,003-square-foot space in the Maker Maxity building, a premium business and retail location near Mumbai's airport. The lease, which is for five years and starts on February 16, has an initial monthly rent of approximately USD 37,167 (Rs 30.8 lakh) in the first year. The rent will rise by 5 per cent annually, reaching around USD 45,167 (Rs 37.4 lakh) per month by the fifth year.

Tesla's Presence In India

Tesla's renewed focus on India comes after a meeting between CEO Elon Musk and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the United States last year. Along with the Mumbai showroom, Tesla has also finalised plans for a showroom in New Delhi, indicating its intention to expand further across India.

India's electric vehicle (EV) market is growing quickly, driven by government incentives and increasing consumer interest in sustainable transportation. Tesla's entry is expected to boost EV adoption and create stronger competition for Indian manufacturers such as Tata Motors and Mahindra.
