Mumbai Central Railway Announces Nighttime Traffic Block For Infrastructure Improvements On October 4-5, 2025

Mumbai's Central Railway has announced a special traffic block for infrastructure upgrades between Parel and Byculla stations. This block will occur during the night of October 4–5, 2025, affecting several express and mail train services. The work involves converting DSS point number 127A from a 52 kg section to a 60 kg section at Byculla station, aiming to enhance the suburban network and operational safety.

The block will be enforced on the UP fast line from Parel (excluding) to Byculla (including), starting at 12:30 am on October 5 and ending at 4:30 am the same night. Officials have chosen these nighttime hours to minimize inconvenience for daily suburban commuters.

Impact on Train Services

Two long-distance trains will be directly impacted by this block. The Bhubaneswar–CSMT Konark Express (Train No. 11020) and the Howrah–CSMT Express (Train No. 12810) will terminate at Dadar instead of CSMT. Passengers should plan their journeys accordingly and arrange alternative transport for the final leg of their travel.

Central Railway has also warned that other late-running Mail/Express services, as well as special trains scheduled during this period, might be regulated or short-terminated based on operational needs. Delays in reaching destination stations are also possible.

The railway administration has urged passengers to bear with the inconvenience, emphasizing that such blocks are crucial for infrastructure maintenance and safety. A statement from Central Railway noted, "These blocks are essential for maintaining safe and efficient train operations. We request passengers to cooperate with the administration during this period."
