The Satara police have arrested the 18-year-old Class 12 student and the accused is identified as Aryan Waghmale, according to a report in The Hindustan Times. The incident occurred around 3.30pm in the Basappa Peth Karanje area.

However, as per a report in the IANS, it was a constable, not a doctor, who came to the girl's rescue after onlookers alerted Sagar Nikam of the City Police Station's intelligence wing.

It is reported that two constables named Nikam and Dheeraj More came to her rescue. While one distracted the youth from the front, the other came from behind to foil the attack attempt.
