Several Parts Of Mumbai Inundated As Heavy Rains Pound Maximum City
Mumbai experiences heavy showers on Saturday night, leading to waterlogging in several parts of the city and causing major traffic snarls.
The IMD issued a yellow alert for the financial capital today, indicating that the current weather system may prevail till monsoon arrives in the city n next two days. The IMD has also issued weather alerts for other parts of Maharashtra as well.

Sindhudurg has been issued with a red alert, while an orange alert is in place for Ratnagiri. Meanwhile, a yellow alert for Thane, Palghar, and Raigad has been declared for June 9, reported the Times of India.
The IMD has forecasted lightning and thunderstorms accompanied with moderate to heavy rainfall and strong winds for these regions. The weatherman has also advised the public to remain cautious while stepping out as the weather remains adverse.
The Maximum City witnessed rainfall in the early hours of Sunday, pointing towards the start of the anticipated monsoon season. The earlier reports from IMD indicate that the southwest monsoon has entered the parts of central Arabian Sea, Telangana, south Odisha, south Maharashtra, and coastal Andhra Pradesh.
"Southwest monsoon has advanced into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, south Maharashtra, Telangana, some parts of south Chhattisgarh, south Odisha, and coastal Andhra Pradesh today, June 8," the IMD tweeted on X.
"Conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into remaining parts of central Arabian Sea, some more parts of Maharashtra (including Mumbai and Telangana) during next 2-3 days," IMD said in another post on X.
The monsoon reached the shores of Kerala two days earlier than usual this year, as it typically begins on June 1. The southern state saw widespread pre-monsoon showers this year.
Last year, India received 94% of its long-period average rainfall from June to September.
