Porsche, Mercedes, Ferrari, Audi, Lamborghini, Jaguar... Why Mumbai Police Has Impounded These Luxury Cars

Mumbai's Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) Police on Thursday booked 43 people and seized 41 luxury cars for violating rules. According to the reports, the government has imposed a ban on the assembly of more than five people in the city till February 6, which was allegedly violated. The reports said that the car rally was organized at the Jio World Drive mall to mark Republic Day 2024. The organizers of the car rally had invited people through social media to attend the event.

A police official told the media that the car rally organizers have been booked under section 188 (deliberate disobedience of an order that is duly promulgated by a public servant empowered by law to do so) and sections of the Maharashtra Police Act 1951.

Mumbai Police Impounds 43 Luxury Cars

The reports said that accused car owners are mostly businessmen, who also leveled charges against the cops of manhandling. However, Police said the seized cars will be returned to their owners once fines are paid in court.

"At least 100 cars were expected to participate in the rally. So we reached the spot beforehand and stopped the rally from beginning," the policeman said

According to the police report, all 43 cars are of high-end brands like Porsche, Mercedes, Ferrari, Audi, Lamborghini, Jaguar, and BMW.
