Mumbai, Sept 8: A public interest litigation (PIL) has sought a probe by NIA into the 7/11 Mumbai serial train blasts alleging false implication and fabrication of evidence against Muslims by the state ATS in the case.

The PIL filed on September 5 in the Bombay High Court has also sought a stay on the trial being conducted by a special MCOCA court against 13 accused, alleged to be members of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), for their involvement in the July 11, 2006 serial train blasts.

A PIL has sought a probe by NIA into the 7/11 Mumbai serial train blasts.

It has sought a direction to NIA to re-investigate the train blasts pending which the 13 arrested accused should be released on bail and trial against them should be stayed. "Different wings of the Maharashtra police have presented different versions at different times about the 7/11 train bombings," the PIL states.

It said that even in the 2006 Malegaon blasts, the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested several Muslims which now National Investigation Agency (NIA), claims is the handiwork of Hindutva extremists.
