Navi Mumbai NH-3 ACR Route: Know How It Will Redefine Travel Across The Mumbai Metropolitan Region

Kalyan Lok Sabha MP Dr Shrikant Shinde announces a groundbreaking infrastructure project aimed at revolutionising connectivity within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). The new initiative, named the 'Navi Mumbai NH-3 via Kalyan-Badlapur Access-Controlled Route' (ACR), promises to significantly enhance travel across key cities including Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Dombivli, Kalyan, Ulhasnagar, Ambarnath, and Badlapur.

A crucial meeting to launch this project was recently held at the MMRDA headquarters, where MMRDA Commissioner Sanjay Mukherjee was in attendance. During the meeting, MP Dr Shinde emphasised the need to fast-track the development of the route.

Consultants from Tata Consulting Engineers, present at the meeting, presented several alignment options for the route. The alignment that has been approved by MMRDA includes a vital link from Badlapur to Navi Mumbai International Airport via Turbhe-Taloja-Usatne and Kharghar-Turbhe roads, as reported by TOI.

Key features of the ACR include:

1. Starting Point: The ACR will start from the Mumbai-Delhi Expressway at Badlapur and extend through Palegaon.

2. Interchanges: The ACR will feature an interchange at Palegaon in Ambernath and a significant interchange at Hedutane in Kalyan (East), providing access to Metro Line 12, Kalyan Ring Road, and Kalyan-Shilphata Road.

3. Integration: At Shiradon, the ACR will connect with a newly constructed multi-modal corridor. This will provide direct links to the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and Coastal Road, enhancing access to Navi Mumbai International Airport. It will also connect with the Mumbai-Panvel Expressway and the Kharghar-Turbhe Link Road.

Dr Shinde stated that the ACR is expected to reduce intra-city traffic congestion, accelerate commutes, and modernise regional infrastructure. By linking the Mumbai-Vadodara National Highway with the Samruddhi Highway, the new route will facilitate smoother travel to Nashik and other destinations, thereby significantly improving connectivity within the MMR.
