Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak Temple Closed: Here’s Why? Details On Dates And Timings Inside

According to the Lokmat report, the Shri Siddhivinayak Temple Trust has shared information regarding the closure of the revered temple in Prabhadevi. The Shri Siddhivinayak Temple, which attracts lakhs of devotees daily, is closed for darshan from Wednesday, December 11 to Sunday, December 15.

The temple trust has announced that during these five days, the idol of Shri Siddhivinayak will undergo its traditional vermilion coating, an annual ritual conducted before Magh Shri Ganesh Jayanti. As a result, devotees will not be able to view the actual idol of Shri Siddhivinayak. Instead, arrangements have been made for devotees to have a 'darshan' of an image of the deity from outside the temple premises.

All regular religious programmes at the temple will continue as scheduled during this period. On Monday, December 16, a special religious ceremony, including Udakshant and Prokshan Vidhi, will be performed for the purification of the temple. Following the Maha Puja, Naivedya, and Aarti rituals, the 'darshan' of the idol will resume at 1 pm.

In addition to Shri Siddhivinayak, the idol of Shri Maruti within the temple will also receive its annual vermilion coating during this time, resulting in the closure of Shri Maruti's 'darshan' as well.

The temple trust stated in the report, "This yearly tradition is an important aspect of preparing for Magh Shri Ganesh Jayanti. We request devotees to cooperate and plan their visits accordingly."

Devotees are encouraged to take note of the temporary closure and adjust their schedules. From December 16, normal 'darshan' timings will resume, offering devotees an opportunity to seek blessings in person.
