Mumbai Weather: Temperature Set To Rise Over Next 48 Hours As Mercury Touches 34°C
Temperatures in Mumbai are expected to rise over the next 48 hours, marking the onset of the city's first significant warm spell of 2026, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC). The weather department has forecast hazy conditions and partly cloudy skies across the city and its suburbs, with daytime temperatures likely to hover around 34 degrees Celsius today and tomorrow.
In its latest bulletin, the RMC said Mumbai will experience a partly cloudy sky with haze through the day, a condition that often amplifies heat discomfort in urban areas. For today, the maximum temperature is expected to be around 34°C, while the minimum temperature may settle near 21°C. A similar pattern is forecast for tomorrow, with haze during the morning hours followed by clearer skies by afternoon and evening, and the minimum temperature dipping slightly to around 20°C.

As per air quality and weather readings, Mumbai recorded an actual temperature of 33°C, but high heat stress made it feel significantly warmer, with the 'feels-like' temperature touching 39°C. Humidity levels remained relatively low at around 39 percent, contributing to the dry heat being experienced across the city. Weather experts noted that while temperatures may ease marginally later in the day, the afternoon hours are likely to remain uncomfortable, especially in landlocked and densely populated areas.
Weather monitoring data from across Mumbai showed uniform temperature conditions, with most locations reporting readings between 32°C and 33°C. Areas such as Andheri East, Bandra East and West, Kurla, Chembur, Borivali, Malad, Worli, Colaba, Juhu and Santacruz continued to witness overcast conditions during the day. Humidity levels across these neighbourhoods ranged between 39 and 41 percent, while west-northwesterly winds blowing at speeds of 10 kmph to 18 kmph provided limited respite.
A private weather forecaster has also predicted the first heating episode of the year over western Mumbai. According to the outlook, Bandra, Andheri, Juhu, Versova and Santacruz are likely to record temperatures close to 34°C tomorrow, signalling a sharper rise compared to recent days. However, South Mumbai is expected to remain relatively cooler, with afternoon temperatures forecast to stay around 29°C to 30°C, thanks to the moderating influence of sea breezes.
Looking at the larger Maharashtra weather scenario, the India Meteorological Department has indicated a gradual rise of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in maximum temperatures over the next four to five days across the state. Minimum temperatures are also expected to increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in parts of Maharashtra.
While weather conditions remained largely dry across most regions, light rainfall is very likely at isolated places in North Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada. Partly cloudy skies are expected to prevail over Konkan-Goa and South Madhya Maharashtra. Strong winds were reported from parts of Pune, Kolhapur, Beed and Parbhani, with wind speeds touching 28 to 31 kmph.
Meteorologists attributed the evolving weather pattern to a cyclonic circulation over Lakshadweep and the adjoining southeast Arabian Sea, along with trough activity along the Kerala and Karnataka coasts. Although no immediate adverse impact is expected for Mumbai, these systems are influencing seasonal weather changes across western India.
Residents are advised to take precautions as temperatures rise, including staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, and being alert to heat-related discomfort over the coming days.
