Mumbai: Vashi Commuters Push Train to the Side to Save Man Caught Under Wheels; Video Goes Viral

A video circulating online is winning the hearts of internet users as it showcases unity among a group of commuters at Vashi railway station on Wednesday afternoon. The footage depicts passengers bravely coming together to push an entire local train in a courageous effort to rescue a fellow passenger trapped underneath. However, it has not been confirmed whether the effort was successful.

"Folks weren't trying to tip the coach to the side, just move it up a bit. And it did work; I was one of the guys pushing. It did go slightly up, and it seems the man was able to be pulled out," one of the X users, formerly known as Twitter, posted.

Navi Mumbai Local Train Viral Video

The footage, captured by a passenger at Vashi station, shows a crowd congregating near the motorman's cabin of a local train, with another large group forming a line and collectively pushing the weighty railway carriage aside in an attempt to free a passenger caught under the wheels. This incident unfolded when an individual became stuck under a Panvel-bound local train, prompting the suburban local train to apply emergency brakes and halt midway on the platform.

Indian Railways, in its report, categorized the incident as a case of trespassing on the tracks. Additionally, it advised passengers to utilize foot overbridges and underpasses at railway stations for their safety and security.

As per the rules of Western Railways, mentioned in Section 147 of the Railways Act, there is either six months' jail or a Rs 1000 fine or both for violating the trespassing rule.
