Mumbai: Uddhav Thackeray Calls Amit Shah Political Descendant Of Ahmad Shah Abdali

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray accused the BJP of "power jihad" by breaking up political parties to stay in power. He criticised Union Home Minister Amit Shah, calling him the 'political descendant' of Ahmad Shah Abdali, who defeated the Marathas in the Battle of Panipat.

Addressing party workers in Pune, Thackeray said, "Ahmad Shah Abdali was also a Shah, and so is this one. Those who eat cake with Nawaz Sharif will teach us about Hindutva." He accused the BJP of causing splits within parties like Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

Thackeray's Criticism of BJP

Thackeray continued his attack on the BJP, saying, "If Muslims are with us after we explained to them our Hindutva, then we are (according to the BJP) the Aurangzeb Fan Club. Then what you are doing is power jihad." He condemned the Eknath Shinde government for bribing voters with "revdis" (freebies) through schemes like 'Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin'.

During a speech on July 21, Amit Shah had launched a scathing attack on Uddhav Thackeray. Shah called him the leader of the 'Aurangzeb fan club' at a BJP state convention event in Pune. He criticised Thackeray for forming alliances with those who served 'biryani' to 26/11 terror attack convict Ajmal Kasab.

Amit Shah's Counterattack

Shah also accused Thackeray of sitting with people who sought clemency for 1993 Mumbai serial blasts convict Yakub Memon. This statement was part of his broader criticism against Thackeray's political alliances and decisions.

Thackeray's remarks came amidst ongoing political tensions in Maharashtra. His accusations against Amit Shah and the BJP reflect deepening rifts between their parties. The exchange highlights the intense rivalry and differing ideologies within Maharashtra's political landscape.

The conflict between these leaders underscores larger issues within Indian politics. Accusations of betrayal and ideological clashes continue to shape their interactions. Both sides remain steadfast in their positions, making reconciliation unlikely in the near future.

The ongoing feud between Uddhav Thackeray and Amit Shah exemplifies broader political dynamics in India. Their exchanges reveal underlying tensions and competing visions for leadership and governance.
