Mumbai Traffic Police Announce Road Closures For Indian Cricket Team's Victory Event; Check Alternative Routes

Mumbai Police have issued a traffic advisory due to celebrations for the Indian Cricket Team's ICC T20 World Cup 2024 win. They recommend using public transport to avoid traffic jams. The team, known as the Men in Blue, will have an open bus parade and a ceremony at Wankhede Stadium.

Security measures are in place for the parade, which will run from Nariman Point to Wankhede Stadium between 05:00 PM and 07:00 PM. Heavy police presence is expected along the route and inside the stadium to ensure safety during the event.

Mumbai Traffic Police Advisory

"In view of Victory Rally of Indian Cricket team, the traffic movements are likely to be congested from NCPA to Wankhede stadium from 15:00 to 21:00 hrs on 4th July," the police said in a post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"To avoid inconvenience to the commuters, following traffic arrangements will be in place from 3 pm to 9 pm today," it added.

In a video statement on Wednesday, Mumbai Police DCP Zone 1 Pravin Munde stated, "Indian cricket team is reaching Mumbai tomorrow after winning the T20 World Cup. A victory procession in an open bus is being held from 5-7 pm on Marine Drive between Nariman Point and Wankhede Stadium. If you want to attend the procession, kindly reach before 4:30 pm and assemble on the promenade side and not on the road. Also, a victory lap is being held in Wankhede Stadium at 7 pm. If you wish to attend that, please ensure you reach and be seated in the stadium before 6 pm. Kindly try to use the public transport system to avoid traffic congestion."

1. NS Road (North Bound): All vehicle types will be prohibited from NCPA to Meghdoot Bridge (Princess Street Bridge), except for emergency vehicles.

2. N.S Road (South Bound): The route will be closed from Meghdoot Bridge to NCPA/Hutatma Rajguru Chowk (Mantralaya Junction).

3. Veer Nariman Road (North Bound): Closed from Ahilyabai Holkar Chowk (Churchgate Junction) to Kilachand Chowk (Sunder Mahal Junction) for all vehicles.

4. Dinshaw Vacha Road: Northbound closed from WIAA Chowk to Ratanlal Babuna Chowk (Marine Plaza Junction) for all vehicles.

5. Madam Cama Road: Northbound closed from Hutatma Rajguru Chowk (Mantralaya Junction) to Venutai Chavan Chowk (Air India Junction) for all vehicles.

6. Barrister Rajni Patel Marg: Northbound closed from Sakhar Bhavan Junction to N.S Road for all vehicles.

7. Vinay K Shah Marg: Northbound closed from Jamanalal Bajaj Marg to Murali Deora Chowk on NS Road for all vehicles.

Alternative Route To NS Road (North Bound): Commuters can take Ramnath Poddar Chowk (Godrej Junction), turn right onto Maharshi Karve Road, pass through Ahilyabai Holkar Chowk (Churchgate Junction), Marine Lines, Charni Road, Pandit Paluskar Chowk (Opera House Junction), and continue to their destination. Another alternative route is via Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Junction, turning left via Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil Road, CTO Junction, and proceeding to their destination.

2. Alternative Routes To N.S Road (South Bound): Options include Kemps Corner Bridge via Nana Chowk, or from RTI Junction, taking a left turn onto NS Patkar Marg, Pandit Paluskar Chowk, a left turn onto SVP Road, a right turn at Pandit Paluskar Chowk, and proceeding via Maharshi Karve Road. Another route is via Vinoly Chowpatty Junction through Maharshi Karve Road, or from Princess Street Bridge, turning left onto Shamaldas Gandhi Marg, and continuing to Vardhman Chowk.

3. Alternative Route To Veer Nariman Road (North Bound): Use Maharshi Karve Road to Ahilyabai Holkar Chowk, then continue via Marine Lines, Charni Road, and Pandit Paluskar Chowk.

4. Alternative Route To Dinshaw Vacha Road: Travel via Maharshi Karve Road, Ahilyabai Holkar Chowk, Marine Lines, Charni Road, and Pandit Paluskar Chowk.

5. Alternative Route To Madam Cama Road: Proceed via Maharshi Karve Road, Ramnath Poddar Chowk (Godrej Junction), Ahilyabai Holkar Chowk, Marine Lines, Charni Road, and Pandit Paluskar Chowk.

6. Alternative Route To Barrister Rajni Patel Marg: Exit from Hotel Trident's gate, turn right to Sakhar Bhavan Junction, then proceed to Barrister Rajni Patel Marg and Usha Mehta Chowk-Free Press Circle.

7. Alternative Route To Vinay K Shah Marg: Use Ramnath Goenka Marg to Sakhar Bhavan Junction, turn right to Barrister Rajni Patel Marg, and continue to Free Press Circle.
