Mumbai Traffic Alert: Heavy Rains Cause Major Waterlogging In Low-Lying Areas– Check Affected Routes Here

Heavy rains lashed Mumbai from early Thursday morning, leading to significant waterlogging in several parts of the city. Residents reported that low-lying areas such as Gandhi Market, Dadar, Hindmata, Parel, Andheri Subway, and Sion were particularly affected, causing traffic to slow down.

Contradicting these claims, a spokesperson for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated that there were no reports of waterlogging. Meanwhile, the Western Railway and Central Railway reported that local train services were operating normally. However, some commuters claimed that Central Railway services experienced delays of 10-15 minutes.

The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking confirmed that no bus routes were diverted in the city or suburbs due to the rain. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted moderate to heavy rain for Mumbai.

In the last 24 hours, Mumbai's Central Region recorded an average rainfall of 83 millimetres, the Eastern Suburbs saw 45 millimetres, and the Western Suburbs experienced 39 millimetres. The Colaba area received the highest rainfall at 51.8 millimetres, followed by Santacruz with 27 millimetres.

After light rainfall over the past two to three days, the intensity increased since Wednesday evening, with more showers in the island city compared to the suburbs. This trend is expected to continue, as indicated by the recent rainfall data and IMD forecasts.
