Mumbai–Nashik Highway Traffic Advisory Details: Routes Closed Due to Kharegaon Underpass Work

The Thane Police have issued a traffic advisory for commuters due to the construction of an underpass at Kharegaon in Kalwa on National Highway No. 3 along the Vadape-Thane stretch of the Mumbai-Nashik corridor. The advisory has been announced to facilitate infrastructure work and manage traffic movement during the construction period.

According to an official circular shared by the Thane Police on X (formerly Twitter), the traffic restrictions will be in effect round the clock from December 15 at 12 pm until January 9 at 1 am. The construction of the Kharegaon underpass will be carried out in two phases during this period.

The police clarified that the traffic notification will not apply to emergency and essential service vehicles. Police vehicles, fire brigade vehicles, ambulances and other essential service vehicles will be exempted from the restrictions.

As part of the advisory, several routes around the Kharegaon underpass will remain closed, and alternate routes have been notified for commuters.

All types of vehicles travelling towards Kharegaon from the Kharegaon underpass on the Mumbai-Nashik Highway will be closed at the Kharegaon underpass. As an alternate route, vehicles can take a left turn from the Kharegaon Band Toll Plaza and proceed to their destinations via Gammon Parsik Circle.

Similarly, all types of vehicles travelling downward and heading towards Khorgaon at the Kharegaon underpass on the Nashik-Mumbai Highway will also remain closed at the Kharegaon underpass. These vehicles are advised to take a left turn at Saket Cut and continue towards their destinations via Saket Complex and Creek Naka.

In addition, all vehicles travelling towards Bhiwandi from Kharegaon using the underpass at Kharegaon Cut, as well as vehicles heading towards Thane from the Kharegaon underpass, will be restricted at the Kharegaon underpass. As an alternative, vehicles can proceed via Kharegaon Parsik Circle, Gammon Circle and Kharegaon Band Toll Plaza to reach their destinations. Vehicles travelling towards Thane city are advised to proceed from Kharegaon via Kalwa Naka.

Commuters have been urged to follow the traffic advisory and use the designated alternate routes to avoid inconvenience during the construction period.
