Mumbai Metro News: This Line To Run Between Andheri T2 And Navi Mumbai Airports

The Gold Line is designed for a speed of 90 km/h, making it quicker than other metro services. It spans approximately 35-40 kilometres with eight approved stations. The construction includes a 9.25-kilometre underground section and a 25.63-kilometre elevated portion. The estimated cost of this ambitious project is Rs 15,000 crore, with a tentative completion date set for 2029.

On April 17, 2025, a significant milestone was achieved when the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) for Metro Line 7A completed its first underground tunnel in Mumbai's Metro network by MMRDA. This breakthrough marks an engineering achievement for the city's metro system.

Connecting Points and Extensions

Metro Line 7A extends from Metro-7 and connects Andheri East to CSMIA T2. It features both elevated and underground sections. For those travelling from suburbs, Metro-9 links Dahisar to Mira-Bhayander and connects with Metro-7 at Dahisar. Additionally, Metro-1 offers access to Airport Road station where passengers can transfer to Metro-7A.

Navi Mumbai Metro Overview

Navi Mumbai's rapid transit system currently has one operational line with three phases planned. Phase 2 extends from Khandeshwar to MIDC Taloja covering ten stations while Phase 3 interlinks Pendhar and MIDC Taloja over a short distance.

Cidco plans further expansion of Navi Mumbai Metro by extending the current operational line from Belapur by an additional 3.02 kilometres towards NMIA. This extension will integrate with Mumbai Metro Line 8 at Sagar Sangam Interchange station near NMMC headquarters.

The minimum fare for Navi Mumbai's functional phase one is Rs 10 while the maximum fare reaches Rs 30. These affordable rates make it accessible for daily commuters seeking efficient transportation options within the region.
