Kalyan-Taloja Metro Line 12: Fastest Metro Project In India Reaches Completion

Mumbai's Metro Line 12 is setting a new benchmark for rapid metro development in India. Within just a year of its Bhoomi Pujan, several pillars are already complete with caps, and work at the depot site is also in full swing. This simultaneous progress on both line and depot construction is unusual for the city. The project aims to connect Kalyan to Taloja through a 22.17 km elevated corridor, linking Line 5 with Navi Mumbai Metro's Line 1.

The Government of Maharashtra, through the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), is spearheading this ambitious venture with an investment exceeding ₹8,400 crore. French consultancy firm Systra is providing consultancy services, while Gawar Construction handles the civil work. Officials have noted that the project's pace is "unprecedented" for Mumbai's metro network, which typically faces delays due to land acquisition and other challenges.

Once completed, Metro Line 12 will significantly improve connectivity between Kalyan, Dombivli, and Taloja.
