Mumbai Local Train Update: Mega Block On July 13 To Affect Thane–Vidyavihar And Kurla–Vashi Routes
The Central Railway has announced a mega block on Sunday, July 13, to carry out essential maintenance work between Thane and Vidyavihar, as well as on the Kurla-Vashi Harbour line. The update was shared by the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Mumbai via social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
Central Railway Mega Block Details
- Thane-Vidyavihar (5th Line): Block from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM
- Thane-Vidyavihar (6th Line): Block from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM
- Kurla-Vashi (UP & DOWN Harbour Lines): Block from 11:10 AM to 4:10 PM
These blocks are scheduled to facilitate important upgrades and maintenance along critical suburban routes.

Western Railway Night Block: July 12-13
In a separate announcement, Western Railway will implement a night block between Santacruz and Goregaon during the intervening night of July 12 and 13, aimed at maintaining tracks, signalling, and overhead equipment.
- Block Duration: From 12:30 AM to 4:00 AM
- Affected Routes: Up Fast Line and 5th Line between Santacruz and Goregaon
- Train Diversions: During this time, Up Fast trains will run on slow lines between Goregaon and Mahim
Western Railway also confirmed that there will be no daytime block on the Western suburban section on Sunday, July 13.
New Senior Citizen Coach Launched
In a positive development for Mumbai's elderly commuters, Central Railway has officially launched its first-ever senior citizen coach in the local train network. Designed for greater safety and comfort, the coach features improved aesthetics, special seating, and enhanced accessibility.
The inaugural service took place on July 10, 2025, at 3:45 PM with the CSMT-Dombivli local. This initiative aims to offer senior citizens a more secure and convenient travel experience
