Mumbai Local Train Services Mega Block: Key Routes Face Major Delays And Cancellations; Details Inside

Mumbai commuters using local train services today may face delays and cancellations as both the Central and Western Railways have announced mega blocks for essential engineering and maintenance work.

Central Railway Mega Block

The Central Railway implements a block on the Main Line (UP & DOWN between Matunga and Mulund) from 11:05 am to 3:55 pm, and on the Harbour Line (UP & DOWN between Panvel and Vashi) from 11:05 am to 4:05 pm.

Key Changes

DOWN Slow Line Services: Trains departing from CSMT between 10:14 am and 3:52 pm will be diverted onto the DOWN fast line between Matunga and Mulund. These trains will halt at Sion, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup, and Mulund before returning to the DOWN slow line at Mulund. Passengers can expect a 15-minute delay.

UP Slow Line Services: Trains departing from Thane between 11:07 am and 3:51 pm will be diverted onto the UP fast line at Mulund. They will stop at Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Kurla, and Sion, and then revert to the UP slow line at Matunga. These services will also experience a 15-minute delay.

The Central Railway has urged passengers to check train schedules and plan their journeys accordingly.

Western Railway Mega Block

The Western Railway has announced a five-hour Jumbo Block on the UP and DOWN slow lines between Churchgate and Mumbai Central from 10:35 am to 3:35 pm. During this period, all trains on the slow lines will operate on the fast lines between Churchgate and Mumbai Central. Several suburban trains will be cancelled, and others will be short-terminated or reversed at Bandra or Dadar stations.

Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, confirmed that the block is necessary for maintenance work on tracks, signalling, and overhead equipment.

Passengers are advised to expect delays and cancellations and are encouraged to check revised train schedules in advance. It is also recommended to make alternative travel arrangements if required.
