Mumbai Local Train Services Block: Is It Cancelled Or Still On? Check Latest Update By Western Railway
Western Railway has announced that there will be no track maintenance block between Saphale and Kelve Road, or between Virar and Vaitarna stations, on Sunday, 9 February, according to a Free Press Journal report. The decision comes as a relief to daily commuters who were expecting disruptions due to maintenance work.
Earlier, Western Railway had issued an advisory stating that a major train block would be implemented on Sunday, February 9. The block was originally planned to facilitate the launching of the PSC slab and girder on the UP and Down Main Line between Virar and Vaitarna, as well as Saphale and Kelve Road. However, authorities have now cancelled the plan, ensuring that train services will run as per the regular schedule.

"All affected trains, as notified earlier, will run as per the scheduled timings," Western Railway confirmed, as reported by Mid-Day.
Western Railway had previously informed commuters on X, formerly known as Twitter that the infrastructure work was aimed at enhancing safety across the suburban section. The announcement had led to concerns among passengers, as such blocks often cause train delays and cancellations. However, with the cancellation of the block, commuters can now expect smoother travel on Sunday.
Mumbai Mega Block On Sundays
On most Sundays, Central Railway and Western Railway schedule Mega Blocks or Jumbo Blocks to carry out engineering and track maintenance work. These blocks frequently lead to train delays and cancellations, affecting a large number of passengers in Mumbai.
For the latest updates on train schedules and maintenance work, passengers are advised to check official railway announcements before planning their journeys.
