Mumbai Local Train News Today: Jumbo Block On Western Line For Maintenance Work; Special Services Announced
Mumbai is known for its local trains being popular with college students, blue-collar workers, entrepreneurs, and thousands of other citizens. Mumbai locals run on three lines - the Western Line, Central Line and the Harbour Line. They are operated by the Central Railway.
About The Western Line
Western line Mumbai is one of the most important railway lines in India. It connects the bustling city of Mumbai with its suburbs and other cities in Maharashtra. It runs from Churchgate to Dahanu Road and starts at 04:15 AM. It has 39 stations along its route, including some of the city's most iconic landmarks.

Generally fast trains on Western Railways halt at these stations; Mumbai Central, Dadar, Bandra, Andheri and Borivali in both directions. From 5:24 PM to 8:21 PM in the up direction the fast trains do not halt between Mumbai Central and Churchgate also, while in the down direction, certain fast trains do not halt between Churchgate and Mumbai Central from 07:30 AM to 10:57 AM.
1. Jumbo Block On The Western Line
Western Railway announces a major block on the Western Line, affecting commuters in Vasai and Virar. To carry out maintenance work on the tracks, signalling, and overhead equipment, a four-hour jumbo block will be in effect from 12:15 AM to 4:15 AM between Vasai Road and Virar during the nights of July 6 and 7.
According to a post shared by Western Railways on its official X handle, "WR will undertake a 4-hour Jumbo Block on UP and DOWN slow lines from 00.15 hrs to 04.15 hrs during the intervening night of 06th/07th July 2024 between Vasai Road and Virar station to carry out maintenance work. There will be No Day block in the WR suburban section on Sunday, 7th July 2024."
In a press release, Shri Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer, Western Railway, stated that during the block period, all slow-line suburban trains will operate on fast lines between Vasai Road and Virar station. Some suburban trains will be cancelled during this time. Detailed information about the block is available with the respective station masters.
Therefore, there will be no daytime block on the Western Railway suburban section on Sunday, July 7.

2. Special Train Service On The Western Line
To accommodate the increased travel demand, Western Railway will run the 05054/53 Bandra Terminus - Gorakhpur Unreserved Special train. This special service is introduced for the convenience of passengers and to manage the additional rush.
Western Railway has also decided to run a special train between Bandra Terminus and Gorakhpur on special fare, aiming to accommodate more passengers during this period.
