Mumbai Coastal Road Promenade Set To Open: Walk, Jog, And Cycle By The Sea From March

Mumbai's sea-facing promenade along the Coastal Road is set to partially open by March, with 70 per cent of the stretch from Priyadarshini Park (PDP) at Breach Candy to Haji Ali nearing completion, according to a Hindustan Times (HT) report. The promenade will feature jogging, walking, and cycling tracks, along with trees and benches for visitors.

According to a civic official, the entire promenade is expected to be ready by early May. The 7.5-kilometre-long, 20-metre-wide stretch will extend from PDP at Breach Candy to the Worli-end of the sea link, featuring 20 underpasses for easy access.

"The Worli end of the promenade will have steps to allow visitors to experience the sea more closely. The area has consistently low tides, making it an ideal space for residents to engage with the waterfront," the official said, as per the HT report.

As part of the Mumbai Coastal Road project, designed by infrastructure firm AECOM, nearly 70 hectares of open space will be developed. Around 70 per cent of the area will have green cover, while the remaining 30 per cent will include paved walkways, cycle tracks, and the promenade.

The facilities will be accessible via nine key entry points, including Setalvad Lane, Tata Garden, Mahalaxmi, Lotus Jetty, Haji Ali juice centre, Atria Mall, and Madraswadi in Worli.

While the parks along the promenade will be open from 8 AM to 8 PM, the main walkway will remain open round-the-clock, allowing people to walk, cycle, or relax by the shore at any time.

The project aims to enhance Mumbai's waterfront, providing a scenic and accessible space for residents and visitors to enjoy.
