Mumbai 1 Card Coming Soon: One Tap To Ride Mumbai Metro, Local Trains & Buses — Check Discounts Inside
In a move to make commuting across Mumbai's transport systems easier, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the launch of the "Local on a Single Ticket" facility, which will be rolled out between May 1 and 15. This initiative will allow passengers to travel seamlessly between Mumbai's local trains, metro, and monorail systems using a single ticket.
The service, currently being trialled in Mumbai, aims to simplify travel for residents and enhance connectivity within the city. The facility is expected to be available across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) by June 15. The card is part of the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) scheme and is being introduced by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) in collaboration with the State Bank of India (SBI).

Easy, Contactless Travel Across All Modes
The Mumbai 1 card will enable passengers to travel across various modes of transport without the need to buy separate tickets. Commuters will be able to tap the card to pay for travel, making the process faster and more convenient. This feature will save time and effort, eliminating the hassle of multiple ticket purchases.
Flexible Fare Options And Discounts
SBI has introduced several flexible fare options for cardholders. These include Store Value Passes, offering a 5 per cent discount on weekdays and 10 per cent off on Sundays and national holidays. Additionally, there will be trip-based passes, including 60-trip and 45-trip cards, along with 1-day and 3-day tourist passes. Special fare concessions will be available for senior citizens, students, and differently-abled commuters.
Recharging the card will be simple, with options at metro stations, vending machines, SBI's website, and various other outlets. Once Metro Line 3 becomes operational, the card may also be linked to this line, further enhancing its utility and convenience for commuters.
Enhancing Mumbai's Transport Infrastructure
During a press conference with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Fadnavis revealed that the technical design for the Mumbai 1 card would be ready within a month. Minister Vaishnaw also provided an update on the ongoing infrastructure projects across Maharashtra, with Rs 1.73 lakh crore being invested, including Rs 23,778 crore approved for new projects this year. A significant portion of this investment, around Rs 17,000 crore, is dedicated to upgrading Mumbai's railway system, including the introduction of 238 new air-conditioned local trains, set to begin production soon.
Boosting Tourism and Connectivity
The Mumbai 1 card is expected to boost tourism and improve connectivity, especially with the introduction of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Circuit Train, which will take passengers to important forts and historical sites related to the Maratha king. Additionally, the Gondia-Ballarshah railway project has been cleared, which will enhance connections between Vidarbha, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh, with an investment of Rs 4,019 crore approved by the central government.
