MNS List Of Candidates For Maharashtra Election 2024; Raj Thackeray's Son Amit Thackeray To Contest From Mahim
For much anticipated Maharashtra Assembly elections 2024, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) released list of 45 candidates on Tuesday. According to the MNS list of candidates, Amit Thackeray, son of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, will contest elections from the Mahim assembly constituency in Mumbai.
This announcement comes as part of the MNS's second list of candidates for the Maharashtra assembly elections. The list includes 45 candidates, with notable names like Sandeep Deshpande and Pramod Ratan Patil.

The MNS has decided to go solo in the upcoming elections, avoiding alliances with either ruling or opposition parties. Raj Thackeray confirmed this decision while inaugurating the MNS election campaign office on Kalyan Shilphata Road in Thane district. He also mentioned his plans to oversee the nomination process for Avinash Jadhav and Raju Patil on October 24.
Maharashtra Assembly Elections: Key Candidates
Sandeep Deshpande, a former corporator and MNS spokesperson, will contest from Worli. Other candidates include Shirish Gunwant Sawant from Bhandup West, Avinash Jadhav from Thane City, Kunal Mainkar from Borivali, Sandesh Desai from Versova, and Mahesh Farkase from Kandivali East. These selections highlight the party's strategy for the upcoming elections.
On October 22, 2024, MNS shared its candidate list via social media platforms. The tweet included details about their plans for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. This move aims to strengthen their presence across various constituencies in Mumbai and beyond.
Election Schedule and Previous Performance
The Election Commission has scheduled voting for November 20 in a single phase. The vote counting will occur on November 23. In previous elections held in 2014 and 2019, MNS managed to secure one seat each time. This year, they aim to improve their performance by fielding strong candidates across key regions.
Raj Thackeray announced Avinash Jadhav's candidature from Thane and Raju Patil's from Kalyan Rural on Monday before releasing the full list. These announcements were made during a function where he inaugurated an election campaign office in Thane district.
The upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections are crucial for MNS as they seek to expand their influence in state politics. By fielding prominent candidates like Amit Thackeray and others across strategic constituencies, they hope to make significant gains this time around.
