Matunga To Mulund, Mankhurd To Nerul: Mega Block Disrupts Sunday Local Trains In Mumbai

Central Railway has announced a scheduled mega block for essential maintenance work on Sunday, June 22, 2025, impacting train services on both the Central and Harbour lines. Commuters are advised to note the changes and plan accordingly.

Central Line: Matunga to Mulund Maintenance Block

  • Affected Stretch: Matunga - Mulund (Up and Down Slow Lines)
  • Block Timing: 11:05 AM to 3:55 PM

Service Modifications:

Down slow line trains departing from CSMT Mumbai between 10:14 AM and 3:32 PM will be rerouted to the Down fast line from Matunga to Mulund. These trains will halt at Sion, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup, and Mulund, before returning to the slow line. Expect delays of approximately 15 minutes.

Up slow line trains originating from Thane between 11:07 AM and 3:51 PM will switch to the Up fast line at Mulund, stopping at Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Kurla, and Sion, and then rejoining the slow line at Matunga. These too will be delayed by about 15 minutes.

Harbour Line: Mankhurd to Nerul Block

  • Affected Stretch: Mankhurd - Nerul (Up and Down Harbour Lines)
  • Block Timing: 11:15 AM to 4:15 PM

Service Changes:

Down Harbour line trains from CSMT Mumbai to Vashi/Belapur/Panvel scheduled between 10:18 AM and 3:28 PM, and Up Harbour line trains from Panvel/Belapur/Vashi to CSMT Mumbai between 10:37 AM and 3:45 PM, will remain cancelled.

To reduce inconvenience, special services will operate between CSMT Mumbai - Mankhurd and Panvel - Nerul/Thane during this time.

Harbour line passengers are encouraged to use the Trans-Harbour line or Main line as alternatives during the block period.

Other Rail Lines on June 22

  • Trans-Harbour Line: No block; services will function as usual.
  • Uran Line: No block scheduled.
  • Western Line: No daytime block; trains will operate per normal schedule.

Commuters on the affected routes should prepare for potential delays of up to 15 minutes.
Travelers are advised to check for real-time updates and consider alternate routes to minimize inconvenience during the block window.
