Maharashtra's New Solar Scheme To Power Agriculture With Clean Energy
Maharashtra government's Solar Agriculture Vahini Yojana aims to supply farmers with solar-powered electricity, enhancing sustainable farming practices.
The Maharashtra government has launched the Chief Minister's Solar Agriculture Vahini Yojana. This scheme aims to provide electricity to farmers. The state electricity distribution company will install solar panels to supply power for agriculture during the day.
What is this Chief Minister's Solar Energy Scheme? It includes solar energy projects with a capacity of 2 to 10 MW. These projects are set up within a 5 km radius of substations in agricultural areas.

The government has fixed lease rates for acquired land. The rate is Rs 1 per year for government land and Rs 3000 per acre per year for private land for 30 years.
The main objective of this scheme is to provide cheap electricity to farmers for agricultural use. The government has allocated Rs 3,700 crore for this scheme.
This scheme aims to benefit many farmer families by providing 12 hours of electricity and reducing electricity bills. Farmers from all states will benefit from this scheme.
To take advantage of this scheme, applicants must be natives of Maharashtra and must have their own land for farming. The land must be legally owned by the farmer.
Farmers, self-help groups, cooperatives, sugar mills, and agricultural panchayats will be eligible for this scheme.
