Maharashtra's Mahayuti Government Rolls Out Major Infrastructure and Welfare Initiatives
Under the leadership of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Mahayuti government has launched multiple initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and public welfare across the state. With a series of projects aimed at driving progress, the government has introduced impactful schemes tailored for women, senior citizens, state employees, and others, making strides towards both economic growth and social development.

Key Public Welfare Schemes Launched
Programs like the Mazi Ladki Bahin scheme for women, discounted bus fares, free travel for senior citizens, and various pilgrimage and welfare schemes have been implemented to address the needs of specific segments in the state. Notably, the government has expedited metro rail projects, aiming to enhance urban mobility, and has initiated the construction of sports complexes across Maharashtra. Investment agreements with several companies are also in place, promoting the state as an attractive business destination.
First State to Launch Unified Pension Scheme for Employees
Maharashtra is now the first state in India to implement a Unified Pension Scheme for government employees. Employees are offered the flexibility to choose between the central government's new Unified Pension Scheme, the National Pension Scheme, or the Revised Pension Scheme introduced by the state. This new scheme, announced during the state's budget session, has been well-received by government employees, providing them with a range of options that align with their financial needs.
Major Recruitment Drive Fills 75,000 Positions
To address a long-standing backlog of vacancies across various departments, the state government has launched a significant recruitment drive, filling approximately 75,000 government posts within the past two years. The police department also saw progress in its recruitment of 18,000 constables, helping boost administrative efficiency and ensuring inclusive hiring across all categories.
Enhanced Support for ASHA and Anganwadi Workers
Acknowledging the vital role ASHA and Anganwadi workers play in rural development, the government has announced a special insurance scheme for these workers. The scheme provides a ₹1 million insurance cover in the case of accidental death and ₹500,000 for disability, offering enhanced protection to these frontline workers. These initiatives underscore the government's commitment to securing the welfare of rural healthcare and social service workers.
Honorarium adjustments have also been implemented, with Anganwadi workers receiving an increase of ₹1,500, ASHA workers receiving an additional ₹5,000, agricultural assistants now earning ₹6,000, and village employment assistants receiving ₹8,000. Home guards' daily duty allowance has also been increased from ₹570 to ₹1,083, with other related allowances nearly doubled.
Health-Conscious Measures for Women Police Officers
The Mahayuti government has introduced policies focused on the health and comfort of women police officers, particularly regarding uniform regulations during pregnancy. Previously, pregnant officers were required to wear pants and belts, which reportedly impacted their health. Following the new decision, female officers can now wear sarees from the early stages of pregnancy, alleviating any potential health concerns.
A Government Set on Progressive Change
With these extensive initiatives, the Eknath Shinde-led Mahayuti government has set a precedent for governance focused on public welfare and infrastructural advancement. From pension options and recruitment drives to supporting women and rural healthcare workers, the administration has rolled out a wide range of policies benefiting diverse communities in Maharashtra. As the first administration to adopt such a holistic approach, the government continues to work toward the state's growth and prosperity, meeting the needs of both urban and rural populations.
