Maharashtra Yellow Alert Issued: Storms Expected, Mumbai Lakes At 99 Per Cent Capacity
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for several regions in Maharashtra, indicating possible thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds. Wind speeds are expected to range between 30 to 40 kilometres per hour. The districts likely to be affected are Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, Sangli, Beed, Latur, and Osmanabad.

On October 2, the day will begin with temperatures around 26 degrees Celsius, rising to a maximum of 32 degrees Celsius by the afternoon. Expect a generally cloudy sky throughout the day. There will be light rain or drizzle, especially during the morning and early afternoon hours. Humidity levels will remain high, and occasional breezes may be felt.
On October 3, the temperature is forecasted to range from a low of 25 to a high of 31 degrees Celsius The sky will remain mostly cloudy for the entire day, with light rain or drizzle expected at intervals. The drizzle will likely occur in short bursts, with some dry spells in between. Winds may feel mild, but the weather will remain quite humid.
On October 4, temperatures will range from 25 in the morning to 32 degrees Celsius in the afternoon. The day will see a generally cloudy sky, but no significant rain is forecasted. The clouds may thin out briefly during the day, but the weather will remain mostly overcast. Humidity will still be a factor, though the lack of rainfall might offer slight relief.
On October 5, temperatures will fluctuate between a cooler 24 in the early morning and a warmer 33 degrees Celsius by midday. Rain is expected throughout the day, with the likelihood of continuous or moderate showers. The rain will be accompanied by overcast skies, and wind speeds may increase slightly. This day will likely bring some relief from the persistent humidity due to the rainfall.
Mumbai Lakes Water Level
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced on Sunday morning that the water levels in Mumbai's seven reservoirs have reached 99.09 per cent of their full capacity. These reservoirs provide the city with its drinking water.
According to the BMC's data, the combined water stock across the Mumbai lakes currently stands at 14,34,227 million litres, which is 99.09 per cent of their total capacity.
Mumbai receives its water from seven main sources: Upper Vaitarna, Middle Vaitarna, Bhatsa, Tansa, Vihar, Tulsi, and Modak Sagar.
As per the latest data, the water levels in these lakes are as follows: Tansa is at 98.29 per cent, Modak Sagar is at 100 per cent, Middle Vaitarna is at 98.86 per cent, Upper Vaitarna is at 99.79 per cent, Bhatsa is at 98.89 per cent, and both Vihar and Tulsi are at 100 per cent of their useful water capacity.
