Maharashtra Weather Watch: Mumbai Set For Cloudy Skies And Moderate Rain, IMD Issues Alert

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Mumbai today and tomorrow, forecasting cloudy skies and moderate rainfall. Today, Mumbai is expected to experience a minimum temperature of 23 degrees Celsius, reaching a maximum of 29 degrees Celsius.

On July 18th, expect temperatures ranging from a minimum of 24 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 28 degrees Celsius, accompanied by moderate rain and cloudy skies.

July 19th will see temperatures cooling slightly, with a minimum of 24 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 28 degrees Celsius. The day is likely to be marked by cloudy skies and heavy rainfall throughout.

Moving to July 20th, the minimum temperature will hold at 25 degrees Celsius, while the maximum will increase slightly to 27 degrees Celsius. Cloudy skies with moderate rainfall are anticipated.

July 21st will maintain stable conditions, with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 24 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 27 degrees Celsius. Showers are expected to persist.

Finally, on July 22nd, similar weather patterns are predicted, with maximum temperatures hovering around 28 degrees Celsius and ongoing cloudy conditions.

IMD Issues Weather Alerts

The IMD issues weather alerts across Maharashtra, highlighting significant rainfall patterns expected in various districts.

Orange Alerts

Under orange alerts, heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted at isolated places in Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts. In the ghat areas of Satara, similar conditions are anticipated with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall expected.

Yellow Alerts

Yellow Alerts are issued for Palghar and Thane, where heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in isolated areas. Similarly, in Pune and Kolhapur's ghat regions, residents should prepare for heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated spots.

Additionally, IMD warns of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in several districts. These include Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim, and Yavatmal. Residents in these areas are advised to stay updated with local weather forecasts and take necessary precautions to ensure safety.

Maharashtra Monsoon Update

The IMD predicts that there is a possibility of more than average rainfall in most parts of Maharashtra. The 'El Nino' ​​condition may remain neutral in the initial phase. But in the second phase of monsoon i.e. in July or August, 'La Nina' condition is likely to occur. The Meteorological Department has clarified that the La Nina conditions are favourable for this year's monsoon in the country.
