Maharashtra Weather Today: IMD Issues Yellow Alert In 25 Regions, Mumbai Lakes' Water Levels Soar

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), several regions in Maharashtra are under a yellow alert due to expected weather conditions. These areas may experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour.

The affected regions include Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Dhule, Nandurbar, Nasik, Ghats of Nasik, Ahilyanagar, Pune, Ghats of Pune, Kolhapur, Ghats of Kolhapur, Satara, Ghats of Satara, Sangli, Sholapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, Dharashiv, Wardha, Gadchiroli, Amravati, Akola, Yavatmal, Buldhana, and Washim.

October 21: Expect a partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers. The temperature will be between 26 and 33 degrees Celsius.

October 22: Rain or thundershowers are likely towards the evening or night. Temperatures will range from 26 to 34 degrees Celsius.

October 23: The weather will be partly cloudy, with temperatures between 26 and 35 degrees Celsius.

October 24: Another partly cloudy day is expected, with temperatures ranging from 26 to 35 degrees Celsius.

Mumbai Lakes Water Level

As of 6 am on October 18, the water level in Mumbai's lakes and dams stands at 1,405,978 million litres, which is 97.1 per cent of the total capacity of 1,447,363 million litres.

On October 18, the water level was 1,383,156 million litres or 95.6 per cent of the total capacity.

The Barvi dam is currently at 97.8 per cent of its capacity, while the Dhamni (Surya) dam has reached full capacity at 100 per cent as of October 18.

Mumbai receives its freshwater from several lakes and dams, including Upper Vaitarna, Modak Sagar, Tansa, Middle Vaitarna, Bhatsa, Vihar, and Tulsi.
