Maharashtra Weather Today: IMD Forecasts Heavy Rain In Mumbai; Orange Alert In Pune & Satara

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted heavy rainfall at isolated places in Mumbai on August 5. Following this, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for the city today. Previously, Mumbai was under an orange alert.

In contrast, Pune and Satara are currently under an orange alert, with expectations of heavy rainfall in isolated areas of the ghats and light to moderate showers in the plains.

Today, Mumbai's minimum temperature is expected to hover around 26 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature may reach 30 degrees Celsius.

Mumbai Weather Forecast

The detailed weather forecast for the coming days is as follows:

For August 6, the minimum temperature will be 27 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature will be 31 degrees Celsius, with a generally cloudy sky and light rain. On August 7, the weather will be similar, with a minimum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius and a maximum temperature of 31 degrees Celsius, accompanied by a generally cloudy sky and light rain.

On August 8, the minimum temperature will drop slightly to 26 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature will remain at 31 degrees Celsius. The sky will be generally cloudy, with moderate rain expected. For August 9, the minimum temperature will be 25 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature will be 30 degrees Celsius, with rain throughout the day.

The weather on August 10 will also see a minimum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius and a maximum temperature of 30 degrees Celsius, with rain expected throughout the day.

Maharashtra Weather Forecast

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for the following regions in Maharashtra:

Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places in Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg. Nasik and Kolhapur are forecasted to experience heavy rainfall in isolated places in the ghats, with light to moderate rain in the plains. Additionally, thunderstorms with lightning are anticipated at isolated places in Akola, Amravati, Wardha, and Yavatmal.

Mumbai Lakes Water Level

Mumbai's water reservoirs are currently at 89 per cent capacity, according to the latest data from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). This increase in water levels follows a week of light to moderate rainfall in both the city and its catchment areas.

As of Sunday morning, the combined water stock in Mumbai's seven key lakes stands at 12,89,615 million litres, which equates to 89.10 per cent of their total capacity. These lakes, which supply the city's drinking water, include Tulsi, Tansa, Vihar, Bhatsa, Modak Sagar, Upper Vaitarna, and Middle Vaitarna.

The individual levels in the lakes are as follows:

Tansa Lake: 99.30 per cent
Modak Sagar: 100 per cent
Middle Vaitarna: 99.38 per cent
Upper Vaitarna: 66.81 per cent
Bhatsa: 89.09 per cent
Vihar: 100 per cent
Tulsi: 100 per cent

The IMD and BMC continue to monitor the weather and water levels closely, ensuring the safety and preparedness of the city's residents.
