Maharashtra Weather Report: Monsoon Arrives Early, Will Hit Mumbai Within 3 Days
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), monsoon has arrived early this year in Maharashtra. This year, monsoon will reach Mumbai and other areas of Maharashtra within next 3 days. The IMD's announcement highlighted that the monsoon has also made progress in regions such as the Arabian Sea, Karnataka, the entirety of Goa, and parts of Maharashtra, indicating a broader environmental impact beyond just Maharashtra.
The weather department's forecast suggests conditions are ripe for the monsoon to further advance into central Arabian Sea, more areas of Maharashtra including Mumbai, parts of Andhra Pradesh, the remainder of Tamil Nadu, and additional parts of the Bay of Bengal and northeastern states in the coming days. This wide-reaching effect emphasizes the monsoon's significant influence on various Indian states and territories.

Mumbai and the coastal Konkan region have experienced heavy pre-monsoon showers over the past two days, setting the stage for the monsoon's anticipated arrival. These heavy rains, accompanied by thunderstorms, led to a yellow alert being issued for Mumbai and a red alert for the South Konkan districts of Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg. These warnings came after a depression system passed near Ratnagiri and Dapoli, exacerbating the rainfall. Such weather conditions not only signify the monsoon's onset but also highlight the need for preparedness in affected regions.
The monsoon's early arrival in Kerala on the previous Saturday further underscores its accelerated pace this year, marking the earliest it has reached the Indian mainland since 2009. This year, the monsoon's onset over Kerala was observed before the usual June 1, showcasing a shift in climatic patterns. Normally, the monsoon covers the entire country by July 8, begins retreating around September 17 from northwest India, and withdraws completely by October 15, following a well-established seasonal cycle.
