Maharashtra Enhances Farmer Income With Solar Krishi Vahini 2.0 Scheme
The Maharashtra government, led by Eknath Shinde, has launched the Chief Minister Solar Krishi Vahini 2.0 scheme. This scheme aims to help farmers by allowing them to rent their land to the government. Farmers can earn Rs 1.25 lakh per hectare each year. This is an increase from the previous Rs 75,000 per hectare.
Under this scheme, farmers lease their land to the government. They will receive Rs 1.25 lakh per hectare annually, with a three percent increase each year. This provides farmers with a steady income without needing to farm the land themselves.

The Chief Minister's Solar Krishi Vahini scheme also aims to provide electricity to agricultural pumps during the day. This initiative has received positive feedback over the past few years. From 8th May 2023, the state government expanded the scheme to increase public participation and benefits.
Both government and private land can be used for this scheme. Farmers living within five kilometers of a Mahavitaran Electricity Distribution Center are eligible to lease their land. The minimum lease area is three acres, and the maximum is 50 acres.
This initiative is expected to provide a stable income for farmers and support solar energy development in the state. The use of both government and private land offers farmers a chance for regular production.
