Officials at the meeting emphasized the need to strengthen district cooperative banks and primary agricultural credit institutions in Maharashtra. CM Shinde urged banks to prioritize financial assistance to small and marginal farmers, especially during crises. He stressed that without bank support, farmers might resort to extreme measures like suicide.Shinde also called for the participation of RBI and NABARD officers in District Level Bank Consultative Committee meetings. This collaboration aims to enhance the effectiveness of financial assistance programs for farmers.

Government's Objective to Support Small Farmers

The Chief Minister reiterated that the primary goal is to provide aid to small and marginal farmers. He encouraged banks to offer crop loans and other financial support during difficult times. Strengthening these institutions is crucial for the welfare of farmers. In conclusion, the Maharashtra government continues its efforts to support farmers through financial schemes and partnerships with banks. By easing loan application requirements and enhancing cooperative banks, they aim to provide much-needed assistance to small and marginal farmers.
